Six people have reportedly survived the charter plane crash in Cerro Gordo, Colombia.

The plane was carrying 81 people, 22 of them from the Brazilian football club Chapecoense. One of the survivors is Alan Ruschel who is currently being treated for severe head injuries and bone fractures, reports say.

The plane was en route from Bolivia to Medellin airport in Colombia, where the team was due to play in the Copa Americana. It has lost contact with ground controllers around midnight and was attempting to make a forced landing when it crashed.

Chapecoense took to Facebook to comment on the crash, “Given the conflicting reports emerging from different journalistic sources concerning the crash of the plane carrying the Chapecoense players, the Chapecoense football association through it vice-president, Ivan Tozzo, is refraining from comment and awaiting official announcements from the Colombian air authorities. May God be with our athletes, leaders, journalists and the other guests who are with the delegation.”

The video below shows the team before they boarded the ill-fated plane.
