The Department of Meteorology states the cyclonic storm “NADA” in the South-west Bay of Bengal is now located around 200km to the north-east of Kankasanturai coast and it is expected to move north-westward.

Very strong winds and heavy showers are expected in the Northern, Eastern and North-central provinces, until tomorrow.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Northern, Eastern and North-central provinces.

Duty Meteorologist Nimal Bandara stated that the sea area off the coast extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankasanturai can be very rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to 60 to 70 kilo meters per hour.
