The Attorney General withdrew a case against former minister Basil Rajapaksa today.

Rajapaksa was being sued under 5 indictments in this case for printing 5 million almanacs using 29 million rupees that belonged to the Devi Neguma.

The case was withdrawn stating there were technical faults in the charge sheet against Rajapaksa.

Accordingly, Colombo High Court Judge Padmini Ranawaka acquitted Basil Rajapaksa and former director general of the Divineguma Department Kithsiri Ranawaka.

At the same time, the foreign travel ban on the two suspects was also lifted.
