Earth heading towards a 25-hour day as the planet's rotation is slowing down

Earth's rotation is slowing down, gradually increasing the length of the day , scientists have revealed.

They have predicted the future will have 25 hours in a day to account for the change. Sadly (for anyone hoping for that extra hour) it'll take roughly 200 million years before we get there.

That's because the day is lengthening at the rate of about two milliseconds per 100 years. So it'll be another 6.7 million years before we even get an extra minute.
