A tense situation erupted when security forces attempted to disperse the employees engaged in the Sathyagraha at the Hambanthota port premises.

A group of employees who were engaged in the protest at the docks of the port resulted in two ships, which were anchored, to refrain from departing following container loading operations.

Accordingly, a few naval boats reached the location.

It has been reported that during this instance, the employees on land, informed those in water engaged in the Sathyagraha regarding the arrival of the Navy, where warning shots were fired.

During the reporting of this incident, the Navy Commander Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunawardena threatened a Hiru journalist with a blow to the camera.

Meanwhile, a heated discussion took place today in parliament when parliamentarians Wimal Weerawansa and Chamal Rajapaksa drew the attention of the house towards the incident.
