Chairman of the Maagampura Port workers committee I.K. Omesh said that they would continue their strike until demands are met.

A tense situation erupted when security forces attempted to disperse the employees engaged in the Sathyagraha at the Hambanthota port premises yesterday.

A group of employees who were engaged in the protest at the docks of the port resulted in two ships, which were anchored, to refrain from departing following container loading operations.

During the reporting of this incident, the Navy Commander Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunawardena threatened and assaulted a Hiru Journalist even hough he had clearly mentioned that he was from media.

This while addressing the Journalist in obscene language, which was also caught on tape.

3 who were injured were admitted to hospital.
