Several views were expressed at a media briefings held today  about the incident where the Commander of Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunarathne assaulting a Hiru Journalist at the Hambantota port premises.

JVP MP Sunil Hadunetthi stated that legal action should be sought against everyone who assaulted a journalist even after he identified himself.

The MP expressed these views at a media briefing held this afternoon.

Meanwhile, several individuals including MP Jayantha Samaraweera of the National Freedom Front, Secretary of the Sinhala Ravaya National Association, Magal-kaande Suddaththa Thera, Convenor of the Inter University Students’ Federation, Lahiru Weerasekara

and the General Secretary of Ceylon Teachers’ Union, Joseph Stalin condemned the incident.
