It has been estimated that 3.4 million rupees in damages have been caused to SLTB buses by protesters during the private bus operators strike day.

SLTB deputy general manager Raja Gunathilaka said that the Transport Ministry has agreed to bear the cost of damages on behalf of SLTB.

Private bus operators launched a strike on December 1st against imposing a 25 thousand rupees fine for 7 traffic violations.

Several SLTB buses were damaged by protesters during the agitation that also resulted in injury to 5 persons.

Meanwhile, hospital sources stated that the army soldier who was severely  injured during a stone hurling at Rambaawa is still in critical condition.
