Police say the search operation to trace the 5 persons who had disappeared yesterday after entering ​the ​Sri Pada forest reserve from Nallatanniya via Lakshapana tea estate is still continuing.

A spokesman from Nallatanniya police said that STF personnel have also joined in the operation in addition to ​the ​police and ​soldiers of the Lakshapana Army camp.

The son of the manager of Lakshapana Tea Estate, two of his friends, two girls and a domestic guide have gone missing inside the forest.

The adventure group had entered the forest reserve through the upper division of the Hamilton estate expecting to sight wild elephants in Seven Virgin hills. However ​ the​ police launched a search operation after the group made an emergency call ​to 119.

​The ​Nallatanniya police said, except the local guide, others are residents of Colombo.
