Hambantota strikers back to strike after ending “Sil ” program

The  workers of Maagampura Port  have engaged in strike action for the 7th day today demanding authorities to absorb them to Sri Lanka Ports Authority.rn

A group of strikers who observed “Sil” this morning, rejoined their fellow strikers after ending the “Sil” program.

Meanwhile, a Korean vehicle carrier with one thousand 86 motor cars for exporting reached the Hambantota port from Colombo.rn

Necessary workers needed to handle the ship had been brought from a  private institution.

However, our correspondent stated that the casual worker group has withdrawn from duty in order to show solidarity towards the strikers.rn

Later, Sri Lanka Navy stated in a communique, that navy personnel assisted in dispatching the load of motor cars.

Meanwhile, Ports and Shipping minister Arjuna Ranatunga said at a media conference today that  new workers will be recruited to cope up with the operations of the port if strikers continue their agitation.
