Court order on Maagampuura port sathyagraha; Subject Minister gives a 20 hour ultimatum

The Hambantota Magistrate ordered Maagampura port strikers today to not disrupt the routine port operations and refrain from damaging its property.

Hambantota Magistrate Manjula Karunarathna issued the order after reviewing the prevailing emergency situation informed to the Courts by the police.

The order includes 7 conditions which will be effective for 14 days.

Meanwhile, Port and Shipping Minister Arjuna Ranatunga said that all Maagampura workers who fail to report for duty before 2 pm tomorrow will be conserved as they vacated their employment.

The minister announced this ultimatum at a media conference after a discussion with several representatives of strikers this afternoon.

The minister told the media that everything is in place to conduct port operations with effect from tomorrow.

Meanwhile, participants in the discussion with the minister who represented port strikers also expressed their views to the media.
