The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress Supreme Council meeting held yesterday with regard to the appointing of the General Secretary ended without consensus.

Reports state that there is agreement among the majority of the Supreme Council for the continuation of party general secretary Hasan Ali in the position and to set up anew a post of an administrative secretary.

It was significant that Muslim Congress General Secretary Hasan Ali did not participate in yesterday’s Supreme Court Council meeting.

At this Supreme Council meeting it was decided that Muslim Congress Leader Minister Rauff Hakeem and General Secretary Hasan Ali meet face to face and hold a discussion either today or tomorrow.

If for some reason there was no participation in the meeting from Hasan Ali’s faction, a final decision is scheduled to be made about this crisis at the next Supreme Council meeting on January 2nd.
