Reports say that approximately 12 students infected with dengue who are sitting the GCE O/L examination this year, are being treated at the IDH fever hospital.

A hospital spokesman told our news team that an examination centre has been set up at the hospital to enable these students to sit their exams.

The spokesman also said that doctors would be constantly observing the students’ condition.

Meanwhile the Ministry of Health said that while there are 48,000 reported cases of dengue to date, 77 of those have succumbed to the disease.

Similarly the ministry of Health had recently decided to cancel leave requested by health staff members in 30 Medical Officer’s Divisions in the 10 districts.

Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Galle, Jaffna, Ratnapura, Kurunegala, Puttalam and Batticaloa districts are the areas that have been reported on.
