The cabinet has decided to refrain from moving forward with the proposal to appoint a super minister through the draft Development Special Provisions Act.

At the cabinet meeting yesterday it was stressed that this draft act would be brought in to obtain the support necessary for investments and promotion.

It was discussed the act should be presented in parliament after resolving all issues which have arisen with regard to the draft act.

It is said that the SLFP Ministers expressed their opposition to legal provisions being made in a manner that will concentrate massive powers on one person.

Similarly by now several parties in the opposition have expressed their opposition to this draft act.
