Customs seize 75 million rupees worth cigarettes smuggled in mattresses

A total of 1.3 million cigarettes with the face value of 75 million rupees were seized by Customs officers at the Orugodawatta container yard this morning today.

The stock has been smuggled to the country from China.

Customs officers stated that the contraband was well concealed in a container carried by MHC Erica.

Customs also said that a Chinese national who is resident in Sri Lanka will be questioned in connection with the theft.
