The fast launched by Deputy Minister Palitha Thevarapperuma against a rubber manufacturing company in Kobawaka continues on today.

The Deputy Minister started the fast near a bo tree on Horana Bulathsinhala road yesterday morning.

Deputy Minister Thevarapperuma says that the toxic waste from the rubber factory has been haphazardly released to water reservoirs and paddy fields.

Meanwhile, police and a group of officers from the environmental authority inspected the rubber factory this morning.

Our correspondent stated that the deputy minister is choosing to continue his fast as a permanent settlement to the issue has not been announced.
