Postal services continue to be disrupted today due to the token strike being carried out by postal workers. Many post offices throughout the country remained closed.

Strikers say that approximately 1.5 million letters have not been delivered from the Central Postal Exchange.

The 48-hour strike was launched on Monday demanding attention to 7 issues including recruitment and promotion procedures.

The Postal Department cancelled leave for all employees in order to prevent the strike.

A majority of employees who had applied for leave had the applications cancelled, however those individuals did not report for duty.
