A discussion between Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Provincial Council chief Ministers will be held later this afternoon.

Speaking to our news team, Western Provincial Council Chief Minister Isura Devapriya said that the Development Special Provisions draft Bill will be discussed during the meeting to be held at 3pm at Temple Trees.

He went on to say all chief ministers from the ruling SLFP will participate in this meeting.

Meanwhile, Uva Provincial Council defeated a resolution presented over the Development special provisions Bill yesterday by 4 votes.

11 UPFA councilors along with 2 JVP councilors voted against the resolution, while 9 UNP councilors along with minister of Agriculture Minister Upali Samaraweera voted for the resolution.

Uva Provincial Chief Minister Chamara Sampath Dassanayake abstained from voting. The chief minister made the following comments to our news team.

Meanwhile, Northern Provincial Council also passed a resolution against the proposed Development Special Provisions Act.

Northern Provincial Councilor M.K. Sivajilingam said the resolution against the proposed Act was passed unanimously.

The councilors have decided to reject the Bill even before taking it up for debate.
