Three small children abandoned by their father in a private bus were taken into the protection of Hatton police. Police found the three children while they were stranded in a luxury private bus reached to Hatton from Colombo last evening.

The father of the children has told Hatton police over the phone that the bus had left Colombo while he was away to buy food for the children.

He has also requested police to keep the children under police protection until he collects them.

However, police said that he did not update his whereabouts and his mobile number was also deactivated.

The stranded children have been identified as a 13-year old boy, a 10-year old girl and an 8-year old girl of Bogawana Tea Estate in Bogawantalawa.

A relatives of the children told police that the three children lived with their father after the children’s mother went for an overseas employment two years ago.

However, the Hatton Magistrate has ordered to keep the children under probation authorities.
