NFF leader MP Wimal Weerawansa was called by the FCID this morning. Weerawansa called to record a statement with regard to an allegation in connection with the misuse of government vehicles.

The FCID has already filed action against five suspects including MP Weerawansa’s brother Sarath Weerawansa and MP Jayantha Samaraweera in Colombo fort magistrate Courts.

When the case was called on December 16, the FCID informed Courts that MP Weerawansa did not call to the FCID on the given days to record a statement to speed up the investigations.

Police also informed Courts that the MP walked away on certain occasions in the middle of recording statements, citing that he had to attend certain important assignments.

Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayarathna had since ordered MP Weerawansa to appear before the FCID today and tomorrow.
