Cabinet Spokesman Minister Rajitha Senaratne said that the Development Special Provisions Draft Bill should be renegotiated before it is presented to parliament.

The Minister stated during a meeting held at the Health Ministry yesterday that the controversial Bill has been drafted by a person who is unaware of the law.

He further labelled the individual who drafted the Bill as ignorant.

Minister Senaratne also said that the Bill could have been presented to parliament after obtaining the opinions of Provincial Councils.

He also stated that he would protest against the Clause in the Draft Bill which states that, if the particular minister function with good intention, they cannot be sued.

Meanwhile, a resolution with regard to the Development Special Provincial Bill was presented for debate by Western Provincial Council Chief Minister Isura Devapriya this morning.

A vote taking will be held at the end of the debate this afternoon.
