Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake stated that measures will be taken to provide the opportunity to newcomers if lottery agents are not ready to implement the government’s decision to increase the price of a lottery ticket.

Speaking at a press briefing held in Colombo today, Minister Karunanayake stated that lottery agents protesting against the decision to increase the price of a lottery ticket in unacceptable.

However, All Ceylon Lottery Agents’ Association stated that they will continue the strike action.

The strike action was launched this morning against increasing a price of a lottery ticket from 20 rupees to 30 rupees.

Our correspondents stated that lottery tickets were not sold in many areas of the country today.

Additionally, protests were also organized in Anuradhapura and Horana areas.

However, Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake speaking at the press briefing stated that the price of a lottery ticket was increased with the intention of providing more opportunities for the public to win.
