Lottery agents and their salesmen throughout the island gathered in front of Colombo fort Railway Station today and launched a protest against the increase in the price of a lottery ticket to 30 rupees and not increasing their commission accordingly.

The protesters who abstained from ticket sale for the last two days engaged in an agitation today as well.

Addressing the media, chairman of lottery sales agents association Krishantha Marambage said the government lost nearly 25 million rupees due to their strike.

8 representatives of protesters were conducted by police for discussion with the officials of the Presidential Secretariat.

Later police closed Lotus road to prevent other protesters marching towards the Presidential secretariat.

However Marambage said that their problems were not settled during the discussions with the officials.
