MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage stated today that the Chinese company has enforced a condition before the government to sign the agreement on the Maagampura Port Development project.

Addressing a media conference held in Colombo today, Aluthgamage said the Chinese company has informed the government that it will sign the agreement if only Sri Lanka Port Authority also signs the document.

Meanwhile, the Joint Opposition filed a petition with the Bribery commission this morning alleging that state funds have been abused in transferring the Maagampura port to a Chinese company.

MPs Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana, Ranjith Soyza, Pavitra Wanni Aarachchi and Piyal Nishantha were signatory to this petition.

Minister of International Trade Malik Samarawickrama, Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister R. Paaskaralingam and ministry secretaries of Port and Shipping, International Trade and Finance have been named as respondents of this petition.
