Lottery strike called off; Government loses 300 million rupees

The Lottery sales agents have decided to call off its 5-day agitation after having a discussion with President Maithripala Sirisena.

The agitation was launched against the increase in price of lottery ticket from 20 rupees to 30 rupees and not increasing the commission for sales agents.

Chairman of the lottery sales agents association Krishantha Marambage told our news team that the agitation was called off as the President pledged to find a solution to their grievances.

He further said that government lost over 300 million rupees due the strike.
