Chairman of the National Police Commission Professor Siri Hettige has resigned from his position.

Professor Hettige has sent his resignation to the Constitutional council.

Meanwhile, the Commission Secretary Ariyadasa Corey told our news team that Chairman Hettige had resigned from the post to take up a temporary teaching position at a Germany university.

Following the resignation, Police Commission members appointed Attorney-at-law P.H. Manatunga as the Acting Chairman.

However, Professor Siri Hettige has consented to resume work as a Commission member once he returns home after completion of his assignment in Germany.
