The Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy has focused its attention on several alternatives including purchasing electricity from the private sector in the event a power crisis erupts due to the prevailing drought.

Director of Development of the Ministry and its media spokesman, Sulakshana Jayawardena requested the public to use electricity sparingly.

Meanwhile, the National Water Supply and Drainage Board stated that water bowsers will be used in the next two weeks for the distribution of water to affected areas.
