Delimitations Committee Chairperson, Ashoka Peries says that the delimitations appeals committee report will be handed over to the subject minister today without the signature of the UNP representative, Attorney at law, A.S.M Misbah.

UPFA representative, former governor Saliya Mathew, JVP representative  Attorney at law Upul Kumaarapperuma and TNA representative, Prof. P. Balasundaran Pillei have reportedly shown the support by signing off the report.

The committee report was initially handed to the subject minister, Faizser Mutapha on the 2nd of January, however it was rejected due to the absence of 2 signatures.

In this instance the representatives of the UPFA and the UNP had not signed the document.

It was noted however that the UPFA representative did sign the document later on.

Our news team made an inquiry from UNP Representative Attorney at law A.S.M Misbah, with regards to the reasoning behind him choosing to not support and sign the delimitation appeals committee report.

Meanwhile, Elections Commissioner, Mahinda Deshapriya stated yesterday that due to the prevailing situation, holding an election before the 30th of April is not possible.
