UN human rights commissioner commends progress in Sri Lanka

United Nation Human Rights Commissioner Zaid Al Hussain has commended the progress made by Sri Lanka in its in human rights.

The UN Human Rights chief has made these views at a meeting with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe held at Davos in Switzerland.

The Prime Minister had told the UN Human Rights Commissioner that the aim of the new Constitution is to ensure rights for all masses.

Managing Director of the IMF Christen Laggard has also met the Premier in Switzerland.

She has also commended the policies ushered by Sri Lanka to put the island’s economy on the correct path by adhering to financial discipline.

In addition, the premier had met with his Norwegian and Vietnam counterparts Erna Solberg and Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

Premier Wickremesinghe has held discussion with the chairman of the Japan International Cooperation Bank Thadashi Mayoda.
