Rescue operations are currently underway by the wildlife officials to save animals affected due to the flooding of Moragahakanda Reservoir.

Our reporter informed that due to the prevailing rain, the water level is rising in the reservoir rapidly.

The existing dry areas are currently going under water.

When the water levels are rising, the animals from the surrounding jungles have started climbing up the trees, our reporter said.

The officials of the Elahera Wildlife Department are engaging in the rescue operations of these animals.

The filling of the Moragahakanda Reservoir with water began since last December 28.
