The MET Department says that a change in the prevailing rainy weather conditions is to be expected from tomorrow onwards.

The director of the forecasting unit Athula Karunanayake noted that accordingly dry weather is to be experienced until the end of March.

The highest rainfall during the past 24 hours has been recorded from Kanthale which is 144.4 mm.

Meanwhile, the department of irrigation noted that the water levels which had receded to 23% in many reservoirs have increased to 32% due to heavy rains experienced.

Accordingly the 2 spill gates of the Maha oya, Rambakan oya has been opened by 6 feet while the spill gates of Roogam reservoir has been opened by 7 feet.

The Director General of the department of irrigation, Saman Weerasinghe noted several other reservoirs in Trincomalee including the Parakrama Samurdraya have reached spill over level.
