Employees from Gampaha Divisional secretariat withdraw from duties in protest against Ranjan

All employees attached to Divisional Secretariats of the Gampaha District are engaging in protest against deputy minister Ranjan Ramanayake reprimanding Divulapitiya Divisional Secretary.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service Association, Ranjith Ariyarathna said that his association has been summoned by the President for a discussion this afternoon.

Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake who inspected a soil excavation in

Duna-gaha area inappropriately reprimanded Divulapitiya Divisional Secretary H.M.L.S. Herath on January 26th.

Employees from all 13 Divisional Secretariats in the district have staged trade union action against the incident.

Mahara Divisional Secretary Chiranthi Wimalasena expressed her views during the protest held in front of Mahara Divisional Secretariat this morning.

In addition, heavy congestion was experienced on the Colombo - Kurunegala main road this morning due to a protest staged by the employees of the Divulapitiya Divisional Secretariat.

Meanwhile,   the chairman of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service Association Ranjith Ariyarathna said that a decision will be taken with regard to trade union action after this afternoons discussion with the President.

However, deputy minister Ranjan Ramanayake stated at a media conference held in Colombo yesterday that he would apologize to the Divulapitiya Divisional Secretary based on certain conditions.
