The Divulapitiya Divisional Secretary who was reprimanded by deputy minister Ranjan Ramanayake met President Maithripala Sirisena this afternoon.

The Chairman of the Sri Lanka Administrative Association Ranjith Ariyarathna said that several members of his association including the Gampaha District Secretary Sunil Jayalath also participated in the discussion. 

He quoted the president as saying that the government accepted responsibility and the incident was regretted.

Meanwhile, a group of members attached to the Sri Lanka Administrative Association held a discussion with Public Administration Minister Ranjith Madduma-bandara this afternoon.

The Chairman of the Sri Lanka Administrative Association Ranjith Ariyarathna said that an ultimatum was given to deputy minister Ramanayake to apologize before February 3.

He said that strict trade union action will be taken if the deputy minister doesn’t apologize.
