Employees attached to Divisional Secretariats of the Gampaha District withdrew from duty and were engaged in a protest today against the reprimanding of the Divulapitiya Divisional Secretary by deputy minister Ranjan Ramanayake.

Protests were held in front of Divisional Secretariats of Attanagalle, Biyagama, Divulapitiya, Dompe, Gampaha, Ja Ela, Katana, Kelaniya, Mahara, Minuwangoda, Mirigama, Negombo and Wattala.

Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake who inspected a soil excavation site in the Dunagaha area reprimanded Divulapitiya Divisional Secretary H.M.L.S. Herath on January 26th.

Later, employees of Divisional Secretariats in the Gampaha district staged trade union action against the incident..

Mahara Divisional Secretary Chiranthi Wimalasena and several protestors expressed their views during the protest held in front of the Mahara Divisional Secretariat this morning.
