Apologise without being stubborn – Sri Lanka Administrative Service Union tells Ranjan

The Sri Lanka Administrative Services Union says that employees of all the Gampaha District Divisional Secretariats will report for work today as scheduled.

Yesterday, Gampaha District Divisional Secretariats employees protested against the incident where Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake inappropriately reprimanded the Divulapitiya Divisional Secretary H.M.S. Herath over the phone, when inquiring about the removal of soil that took place at Duna-gaha in Divulapitiya on 26th January.

Meanwhile the Divulapitiya Divisional Secretary who had been reprimanded by  Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake met President Maitripala Sirisena yesterday.

The Sri Lanka Administrative Service Union also participated in the meeting.

on this occasion the President expressed his regret, the President also accepted responsibility for it.

SLAS Union chairman Ranjith Ariyaratne said that Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake would be given till February 3rd to submit an apology with regard to the incident.

The SLAS Union chairman said that the Deputy Minister would be informed to take action regarding the matter “without being stubborn” .

The chairman said that if an apology was not made, it will be necessary to resort to stringent trade union action in the future.
