The Ministry of Fisheries has decided to grant a period of month to catch Jira fish who live in Sri Lanka’s shallow coastal waters.

These beautiful and colourful fish that grow up to 3 to 6 feet live among the coral reefs and marine plants mostly in the southern coastal sea.

The Ministry of Fisheries banned catching of this fish species last week. However, after considering requests made by several parties on this fish species, the ministry has taken steps to provide another one month’s time to catch these fish.

However according to ministry of Fisheries, a set of conditions are being prepared on catching these fish.
