Centre Against Private Medical Colleges charges the shooting was a plot to weaken their fight.

Police say that investigations carried out on the shooting aimed at the CEO of Malabe Private Medical School, Dr. Sameera Senarathna revealed that he was intentionally shot at with the motivation to kill.

Police also said that 4 shots had been fired at the vehicle in which Dr. Senarathna was travelling in.

A Government Analyst inspected the site of the shooting this morning.

Reports state that at approximately 7.30 on Monday evening, 2 masked men riding motorcycles, shot Dr. Senarathna’s vehicle in front of SAITM College.

There are no CCTV cameras installed in that area. Reports reveal that footage was not available to assist with the investigation.

However, a spokesman from Mulleriyawa police said that CCTV footage from nearby cameras in the neighborhood will be reviewed.

Meanwhile, the Center Against Private Medical Colleges convened a media conference in Colombo this morning.

Convener of the Center Dr. Jayantha Bandara said the shooting is part of the government‘s ploy to weaken their fight against SAITM.

Meanwhile, IUSF and GMOA have met this morning to discuss about the matter.

IUSF stated that the shooting was a drama staged by the government and SAITM.
