A plane that was wet-leased to Pakistan International Airlines from SriLankan Airlines has been diverted by British authorities over security threats.

The aircraft PK757 carried an operating crew of SriLankan as it was en route from Lahore, Pakistan to London Heathrow.

It was reported that the plane received a request from authorities in London to divert to Stansted Airport due to unspecified information regarding a passenger of the flight.

In a statement SriLankan Airlines said, “The flight, PK757, was moving from Lahore to Heathrow. Upon entering the UK airspace, an alert was reportedly issued. Subsequently, two fighter jets of the RAF located the flight in mid-air and escorted it to Stansted airport in Essex.”
