The Ministry of Provisional Council and Local Government says that regulations will be formulated for imposing a Rs. 25,000 fine against persons who leave dogs stranded on roads, neglecting the wellbeing of the animal.

Participating at a media briefing held in Colombo, subject minister Faizer Mustafa said that the implementation of a six month prison term would be imposed against such offenders.

The minister went on to say that it had been decided to install security cameras to assist with the identification of persons who abandoned dogs in public places.
