SLMC to challenge SAITM verdict before Supreme Court

The Sri Lanka Medical Council which met today has decided to challenge the Appeal Court judgment on SAITM before the Supreme Court.

Speaking to our news team, SLMC Registrar Dr. Terrance Gamini de Silva said the decision was taken after a lengthy discussion by the Council.

The Court of Appeal ordered the SLMC in its verdict, announced on January 31st, to register all students attached to Malabe Private Medical School once they complete their medical degree.

Meanwhile, a vehicle parade jointly organized by IUSF and Medical Faculty Students Activists in protest of the Malabe Private Medical School reached to Colombo this afternoon.

The parade started from Anuradhapura, Ratnapura, Kandy, Kuliyapitiya and Karapitiya on February 15th.

The 5 vehicle parades which got combined at the Technical Junction were preceded to Colombo Fort later.

Heavy traffic was reported in Colombo Fort and on its surround roads due to the protest.
