Rice Mill owners have said that many issues have arisen by imposing separate control prices for Imported and Local varieties of Rice.

Control price for imported varieties was imposed before, while control prices were imposed on local varieties with effect from last midnight.

Accordingly the price of a Kilo of imported Nadu rice would be 72 Rupees, while the price of a Kilo of local Nadu stands at 80 Rupees.

Imported Kakulu rice stands at 70 Rupees per Kilo while the local variety stands at 78 Rupees.

Keeri Samba and other imported Samba apart from the Suduru variety would be 80 Rupees while the price of a Kilo of the Local variety would be 90 Rupees.

Polonnaruwa District Chairman of the United Rice Producers Association Mudith Perera stated that no solutions were received for the concerns raised by them.

Meanwhile, Secretary to the Ministry of Industry and Trade Chinthaka Samarawickrama stated that no room will be kept for any malpractices.
