NFF leader MP Wimal Weerawansa who is currently in remand under the Public Property Law was further remanded today until march 6th, after being produced before Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayarathna this morning.

Wimal Weerawansa was arrested by the FCID on January 10th when he made his way there to record a statement with regard to the allegations against him for the inappropriate use of government vehicles.

The former deputy general manager of the State Engineering Corporation Samantha Loku-hannadi was arrested along with Weerawansa on the same allegations, however he was granted bail today.

The magistrate ordered the release on 50,000 rupees cash bail and two surety bails of one million rupees each.

The suspect was banned from overseas travel and was ordered to surrender his passport to Courts.

At the same time, FCID informed Court today that investigations in connection with the allegations against the suspects have been complete.

Colombo High Court Judge Wikum Kaluarachchi considered a revised bail application made by MP Wimal Weerawansa.

Later the Judge informed the Attorney General to file objections if any against Weerawansa before February 27th.
