A British ISIS fighter named Abu-Zakariya al-Britani, formerly known as Ronald Fiddler carried out a suicide bombing in Mosul, Iraq two days ago. It was later revealed that he was a former Guantanamo Bay detainee who won £1million for his mistreatment, according to foreign media.

Two days ago the Islamic State ended up praising Abu-Zakariya al-Britani, after blowing up a vehicle at an Iraqi army base in Tal Gaysum, south-west of Mosul, where Iraqi forces are currently battling the terror group ISIS for control of the city.

Before he converted to Islam in his 20s, he used to be known as Ronald Fiddler.

Initially, he used the name Jamal al-Harith before then and later changing it again to al-Britani.

According to his brother Leon Jameson it was a waste of the life of Abu-Zakariya al-Britani as he recognized his brother by the smile on the photograph taken moments before he drove off on the suicide mission.

The 50-year-old Abu-Zakariya al-Britani, originally from Manchester, was seized by US forces in Afghanistan before being sent to Guantanamo Bay in 2002.

Two years later he was released after the British government campaigned for his release as al-Britani claimed his innocence.

Upon returning to the UK, he launched a compensation claim on the grounds British agents knew or were complicit in his mistreatment and was subsequently handed up to £1million of taxpayers’ money to simply stay silent.

However, despite security services being fully aware of his previous detention, he successfully escaped the UK 18 months ago in order to fight with ISIS in Syria.
