5 schools have decided to withdraw from this year’s Inter International School Athletics Meet due to an anonymous letter that has threatened to create chaos during the meet.

The International School Athletics Meet is scheduled to be held from February 25 to 27 at the Diyagama Mahinda Rajapaksa Sports Ground.

24 schools confirmed participation but 5 out of them decided to withdraw due to this issue.

The particular letter had threatened to create chaos in the ground during the meet.

The Principal of Asian International School informed the parents that the school management decided not to participate in the meet under suspicious circumstances.

However, Director of Lyceum International group Nikith Grero declined to comment on the matter.

Meanwhile, the organizers of the Inter International School Athletics Meet stated that everything is in place to hold the meet as scheduled.

Meanwhile, police say that they have not received a complaint with regard to such a threat.

When our news team contacted the director in charge of private schools said that the Ministry of Education has no legal provisions to regulate International Schools.
