Government Printer on controversial Bond issue

Government Printer has informed Presidential Commission that the controversial gazette on Bond issuance was submitted to the Public Debt Department on Dec. 22, 2016.

Acting Government Printer Gangani Kalpana Liyanage is currently testifying before the Presidential Commission which probes the controversial Central Bank Bond scam.

She was informed to testify before the Commission to verify the issuing date of the particular gazette notification relating to the controversial bond issue under the present government.

Accordingly, the Acting Government Printer stated that Senior manager of the Public Debt Department M.S.M.P. Fernando had informed, in writing, to reserve January 1, 2015 for the printing of the controversial gazette No.1895/19.

She also said that the reservation was sent by the Senior Manager of the Public Debt Department on December 24, 2014.

She further confirmed that no gazette notification with regard to a bond issue of this nature was received for printing during the year 2015.

The Acting government printer said that the gazette notification with regard to this controversial bond issue had been sent for printing on November 18, 2016.

The Acting government Printer produced necessary documents as proof to support her statement.
