Police Media Spokesman DIG Priyantha Jayakody says that Colombo has become a hard location for drug smugglers to operate their rackets.

He announced this during a media conference held in Colombo today.

The DIG said that 5 suspects have been arrested in connection with the recent seizure of 13 kilograms of heroin from Nagalagam Street in Grandpas.

The main suspect of the racket is also among the arrested.

Police Media Spokesman DIG Priyantha Jayakody further said steps will be taken to confiscate property of drug racketeers under the Money Laundering Act.

Meanwhile, Kalutara North OIC has been transferred with immediate effect to Kotahena police.

Allegations were made against Kalutara North Police following the gun attack on two prison buses where 7 persons including under world kingpin Samayang were killed.

It was reported that Kalutara police was asked for security but it failed to do so due to dearth of police officers.
