Government Nursing Officers Association have stated that the trade union action launched by Government Services United Nurses Association has been unsuccessful.

However, the Chairperson of the Government Service United Nurses Association’s Murutthettuwe Ananda Thera said that the trade union action launched by his Association has in fact been successful.

The strike was launched by the Government Services United Nurses Association today and will continue on tomorrow on 8 demands including a settlement to salary anomalies.

Chairman of Government Nurses Officers Association Saman Rathnapriya said that all government hospitals are functioning as per norm, despite the strike.

The directors of several government hospitals were contacted by our news team to confirm if the hospitals had been affected by the strike.

Colombo National Hospital Director Dr. Anil Jasinghe said that daily activities had not been affected.

Meanwhile, our provincial correspondents stated that hospitals in all provinces including the Central, North Central, Southern and Western Provinces are functioning smoothly despite the strike led by Muruttettuwe Ananda Thera.
