The Sri Lanka Medical Council filed a petition today with the Supreme Court challenging the verdict by the Court of Appeal over the Malabe Private Medical School.

In its petition, the SLMC requested the Supreme Court to declare the judgment issued by the Court of Appeal on January 13 null and void.

The petition has also requested the Supreme Court to issue an interim injunction to prevent the implementation of the judgment issued by the Appeal Court.

It is stated that 6 factions including Higher Education Minister Lakshman Kiriella and the management of Malabe Private Medical School have been named as respondents.

The judgment issued by the Court Of Appeal on January 13 ordered the SLMC to register students who pass out from Malabe Private Medical School.
