The Government Services United Nurses Association states that its on-going strike at government hospitals will continue tomorrow as well.

However, Health Minister Rajitha Senarathna said the strike by the Government Services United Nurses Association is an utter failure.

Government Nursing Officers Association stated that government hospitals functioned as usual despite the trade union action launched by Government Services United Nurses Association today.

Colombo National Hospital Director Dr. Anil Jasinghe said that many of the nurses attached to the National Hospital reported for duty today despite joining the trade union action.

Director of Kalubowila hospital Dr. Asela Gunawardana said that the hospital functioned as usual.

The strike has been launched on 7 demands including a settlement to salary anomalies.

Meanwhile, Government Service United Nurses Association’s chairman Muruttettuwe Ananda Thera said that the trade union action launched by his Association is successful.

Meanwhile, GMOA has extended its support to the ongoing strike by Government Services United Nurses Association.

GMOA stated in a communiqué that the Government Services United Nurses Association has shown solidarity in its anti ETCA and anti SAITM moves.

GMOA also stated that certain factions are engaged in an unsuccessful attempt to convince that the GMOA is using Government Services United Nurses Association as its cat’s paw.

Meanwhile, Government Nursing Officers Association Chairman Saman Rathnapriya said at a media conference held in Colombo today that the strikers failed to disrupt the functions of government hospitals today.

Health Minister Rajitha Senarathna told journalists at a media conference held in Colombo today that the most disastrous strike by the Government Services United Nurses Association was reported today.
