A review report of the proposal on Sri Lanka which has been passed by the Geneva Human Rights Council was submitted to the 34th session of the Council yesterday.

The report titled, “Reconciliation, accountability and human rights development in Sri Lanka”, has been presented by the United States, Montenegro, Mazidonia, the United Kingdom, and Northern Ireland.

The review report has demanded that the implementation of the recommendations made in the resolution passed by the UN Human Rights Council in 2015 should be assessed continuously.

The Sri Lankan government has asked for a two year period to submit the progress report on the implementation.

The Commissioner of the UN Human Rights council Zeid Al Rad Husain is scheduled to submit a detailed report on the measures taken by Sri Lanka for the implementation at the Geneva sessions on March 22nd.
